Nowadays, online shopping is a hobby for many people. Overall, Americans spent $111.5 billion dollars online. This is 8.9 percent of total retail sales. Not surprisingly, younger people do a much higher portion of their shopping online than older population.
Another trend that we’ve observed for a while is that industries tend to shift from lifetime items to items with planned obsolescence. When it comes to clothing, we can see now better-looking styles, but the quality is relatively poorer. A cell phone is not even expected to last longer than 2 years.
Where do students do their online shopping?
We surveyed 200 students and asked them about their favorite online shopping apps and websites. Here is a list of top 10 shopping places.
2. Amazon
‘Impulsive shopping done easily’ could be an Amazon slogan. Amazon posts Deals of the Day and has a lot of beautiful lists to browse through. According to Business Insider, 43% of U.S. online sales went through Amazon in 2016.
When you shop there frequently, Amazon analyzes your data and offers suggestions you might like in the future. Did you know that Amazon Student membership is 50% less than the regular Amazon Prime.
3. Groupon
Groupon allows you to purchase goods, services, hotels, restaurant deals, entertainment tickets and more for pennies on the dollar. If you live in a big city, you are like likely to find many offers from local restaurant and service providers. Groupon is especially helpful when traveling to other cities on a budget.
4. Etsy
This website is full of adorable handcrafted items from all over the world suitable for both genders and all ages. The variety and creativity of multiple suppliers is astonishing! Especially impressive is the ability to request custom-made items. For the sellers it is convenient too, as it allows them to use PayPal as a way of getting money quickly and safely.
5. AliExpress
This website and app are marked to be very convenient and interesting to browse. Students who browse this store love to discover cute and affordable clothes.
6. GasBuddy
Can we call shopping for gas online shopping? Why not? There isn’t a better app to find gas than GasBuddy. It is regularly updated by users. The display color-codes the most affordable price as well as the closest gas station. This application is a must-have for every driver.
7. Newegg
Newegg is a great website for buying electronics. It is praised for its variety and valuable customer comments. In addition to electronics, you can find office products, sporting goods, watches, apparel, and sometimes even baby products and pet stuff. We like the fact that they have a student store, where you can register with your .edu account to get exclusive deals.
8. Vinted
This site allows you to sell your own clothes to other people across the United States. It has convenient filters as well as an opportunity to read forums about real-life topics. Vinted creates a community with which one can identify, contribute to it by selling clothes, and benefit from being a part of it by buying cheaper branded items.
9. Jabong
This specialty store is full of latest branded Indian clothing. The prices are reasonable and they provide free shipping around the world. The main advantage of this store is that it stays on top of current fashion trends.
10. Bondi Band
Bondi Bands are posting their specials and product photos on social media, which makes it easy to follow and get connected. The company specializes in athletic compression socks, sweat wicking headbands, armbands, and other fitness equipment. Their selection is great, but their deals are even better.

Conclusion
Whatever your shopping needs are, we hope that this list highlighted some additional benefits of the websites that you were already familiar with and helped you to add a few new stores to your online shopping list.
