Study how water flows in a valley stream, smoothly and freely between the rocks. Also learn from holy books and wise people. Everything – even mountains, rivers, plants and trees – should be your teacher.

Commutes Are Getting Longer

For all commuters out there, we put together a list of productivity podcasts that you can listen to while driving. Commute can take up a lot of time in our schedule. The average travel time to work in the United States is 26 minutes, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. If you commute 26 minutes in both directions 5 times a week, that adds up to a total of nine full days in a year spent traveling to work and back.  As the economy continues to grow, daily commute time is likely to increase.

Of course, no one likes to sit in traffic. If you live in a large metropolitan area, your commute time is likely to lengthen due to traffic congestion and delays. Being stuck in traffic adds up to an average of 42 hours per year, according to the estimates from the 2015 Urban Mobility Scorecard report by the Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M University. This is essentially a full work week of idle time!

Listening to Podcasts Helps to Use Your Commute Time More Efficiently

What if you could use your commute time to learn new ways of becoming more productive? Ability to learn is one of the most important skills for a modern leader.  Listening to a podcast is like inviting a renowned expert to take a ride in your car.

Think about how many minutes and hours could be spent absorbing the wisdom and motivation of inspiring thought leaders! Even though I mentioned that this list is intended for commuters, there is no reason you can’t use it in many other circumstances.

I use every chance I get to listen to these podcasts. I play my Overcast app when I’m working out, cleaning the house, commuting, or running errands. It motivates me and inspires me to be the best I can be in every moment.

Set Up Your Podcast List in 3 Simple Steps

Setting up a podcast list takes only a few minutes. All you need to do is follow these simple steps:

  1. Download a free podcast player app for your phone. The popular options include Overcast: Podcast Player for iPhone and Podcast Republic for Android.
  2. Add the podcasts from the list below into your podcast player. When a new episode is released, it will automatically show up in your app. You can adjust the settings to delete a podcast after it has been played.
  3. Listen to the podcasts on your phone anywhere you go. The best part is that you have regained control over your time.
